Ever wish you could figure out what your customers are thinking, and learn EXACTLY what makes them tick?
Well, there are actually plenty of methods that you can use to pick your customers’ brains, including:
- Feedback forms
- Five Second Tests
- Brand Recall Tests
Now, you might be thinking:
Surveys are a waste of time. I’ve tried sending these out before, and I got, like, 5 responses from my entire email list.
But trust us on this…
There’s a LOT more finesse involved in sending out a survey than you might realize.
If you just input your survey questions on SurveyMonkey, slap the link onto an email newsletter, and blast it to your entire email list, that’s not going to do much for you.
But if you pay attention to the nitty-gritty (and use advanced triggers and targeting to make sure your survey is served to the right customers at the right time), then you’ll DEFINITELY experience better results.
So, how do you supercharge your customer surveys, and optimize them to get more responses?
If you’re a Sendlane user, we recommend using Informizely, which is an interactive survey tool that allows you to create and send different types of surveys.
In this blog post, we discuss how Informizely works, and walk you through how you can integrate the tool with your Sendlane account.
Alright, let’s jump right in!
What is Informizely?
Simply put, Informizely is a survey platform that you can use to create just about ANY survey that exists.
- We’re talking:
- Email surveys
- Website surveys
- Link surveys
- Exit intent surveys
- Integrated surveys
Say you want to create an email survey to gather feedback about your customer’s experience with your product or brand.
Using Informizely, you can embed your question(s) directly WITHIN your email, so that your customers can reply without leaving their email app.
Want to create a survey that’s a little longer and more complex? Not a problem.
Informizely’s survey builder comes with skip logic and conditional item visibility, which gives you the power to customize your survey EXACTLY how you want.
Here’s an example:
Using Informizely, you can set your survey up such that if your respondent indicates that they have NOT downloaded any of your lead magnets to date, the survey will automatically skip past the subsequent question that asks: Which lead magnet did you find the most useful?
Informizely also allows you to add elements such as links, buttons, fixed text, in-line clickable images, and even background images to your survey, so go ahead and knock yourself out.
Once you’re done crafting your survey, copy and paste the generated HTML directly into Sendlane, and you’re done.
Pretty easy, right?
Using Informizely to survey your customers
There are several factors that make Informizely an excellent choice for a survey tool.
First and foremost, Informizely comes with a pretty rad Reporting feature which allows you to filter your survey responses to identify the most relevant data.
We also like Informizely’s Text Analysis function -- this allows you to see your respondents’ most used words in an interactive word cloud.
Finally, if you want to export your data and study it more carefully, there’s the option of downloading it as an Excel file; you can also set up your account to sync up your Informizely and Sendlane accounts. (More on this in a bit!)
Reporting aside, the fact that Informizely offers a huge range of survey types also gives them plenty of brownie points.
If you want to create a Net Promoter Score (NPS) survey, then email is the obvious choice.
If you want to create a survey to gauge the user-friendliness of your website, on the other hand, it makes sense to house your survey on your website itself.
This way, you can reach out to respondents while they’re actually interacting with your site, and generate feedback in real-time.
Finally, if the goal is to increase conversions and reduce abandonment, your best bet is to utilize an exit intent survey (or promotion).
The bottom line? Informizely is pretty dang versatile, and you can adapt the tool to suit whatever marketing objective you’ve got in mind!
Pro-tips to help you craft and set up the perfect survey with Informizely
Now that you understand the basics of how Informizely works, let’s move on to discussing some Informizely pro-tips that will help you up your survey game.
Firstly, Informizely allows you to set up your account such that you receive email notifications whenever you receive a new survey response.
- There are a few options here, including:
- Receive an email for every X responses you get
- Receive an email for each day that your survey is running
- Receive an email for the very first response that you get, or
- Not receive any emails at all
Think about what works for you, and configure your email notifications accordingly!
Next, you can also add custom metadata to your surveys, and use this data for targeting your surveys.
Here, we’ll break it down for you:
Say you’re surveying your customers on their most recent purchase, and you want to personalize your survey to each individual customer.
Instead of simply asking:
How would you rate your most recent purchase with BrandName, from a scale of 1 to 10?
You can actually use custom metadata to ask:
How would you rate your Nike Air Max 90 purchase with BrandName, from a scale of 1 to 10?
Alternatively, if you only want to trigger your survey to respondents who have made a purchase in the last 7 days, you can use custom properties to achieve that as well.
